Two hours had passed. Seven other forwards had been taken. Most of the prospective players on-site in Philadelphia for the 2010 MLS SuperDraft had already heard their names called and were making the rounds through media and PR personnel.

On Jan. 14, during the 2010 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia, Penn., Akpan was selected in the second round (22nd overall) by the Colorado Rapids. 2008 MLS Cup Champions Columbus Crew selected Nyamekye with the team’s first pick in the fourth round (60th overall).

Last Friday, the Missouri Athletic Club added another achievement to Akpan’s list, crowning him first runner-up for the prestigious Hermann Trophy.

No matter how you measure it, the men’s soccer Class of ’09 has had a memorable run.

Despite outplaying defending national champions Maryland for much of the game, the 10th-seeded Crimson gave up a goal in each half on its way to a third-round exit from the NCAA Tournament.

One scrappy goal—and two well-executed ones—handed 10th-seeded Harvard a 3-0 win over Monmouth (18-2-2) yesterday on Ohiri Field, moving the Crimson into next Sunday’s third round of the NCAA Tournament.

It was a tough, physical, and often violent night for the Harvard men’s hockey team (1-4-1, 1-4-1 ECAC) in its Friday home opener against St. Lawrence (7-4-1, 3-2-0 ECAC), one in which the Crimson came up short, falling 3-2 to the Saints.
